Drill
Instructor Leo McSweeney enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1990.
He served in the infantry and achieved the rank of sergeant
beforehe was honorably discharged in January
2000.
After deploying
all over the world including Japan, Africa,
Australia
and the Persian Gulf, McSweeney took on the
challenge
of becoming and serving as a Drill Instructor. He says his role
as one of the four Drill Instructors the TV reality series Boot
Camp was an interesting experience. "Unfortunately, the
part didn't turn into many dates," says McSweeney. "Getting
yelled at and being told to do push-ups isn't exactly a girl's
dream date."
Perhaps the humorous side of McSweeney's personality comes from
growing up in a home as one of seven kids. Thanks to one of
his sisters, he's also an accomplished salsa and meringue dancer.
"Not quite the tough guy I play on TV," McSweeney
jokes. Today, the Boston native is enjoying his space as a bachelor,
and resides
in Venice Beach, Calif.
